Maybe the reason people can't stop arguing about race is because you can't get it through their heads that

white people talk like this

and black people talk like this

How can anyone watch Obama's speech entirely about meeting racial issues head on and report that the Democrats are running from them. Do words even mean anything anymore?

I was just about to say exactly the same thing. Every time I think I officially hate the media more than I ever will, Jeffrey Rowland has to go and post something. :(

would you rather have someone NOT funny and observant report these things to you?

Yes, in fact. I was just fine and dandy all day thinking the country had joined hands and sung campfire songs following Obama's speech. Then this guy goes and tells me there are still assholes in the world. Couldn't I have been happy forever, Jeffrey Rowland? Why'd you have to ruin it?

This is exactly what I was going to say. I think the conservatives are extremely terrified of their chances in November after seeing that speech and are desperately scrambling to make it seem like it wasn't anything.

I don't think that speech helped Obama at all, because it doesn't work unless you actually see or read the whole thing--if you hear about it secondhand through sound bites and summaries about how Obama was desperately trying to neutralize the Jeremiah Wright flap, it's completely ineffective.

I keep forgetting that just because for the first time ever I've listened to and actually been affected by entire speech from a politician, that the rest of the country hasn't behaved the same as me and payed attention. I was curious what FoxNews had to say about it and had to dig through their site to even find it.

Things like this give me hope though; even Huckabee defended Barack.

Two and a quarter million views on youtube alone (I think it's also on Hulu and, well, everywhere else probably) already. I think people are actually taking notice, hopefully they'll continue, but I watched the whole thing, and if the Dems in the right places play their cards right, they can spin a lot of good clips out of it. The Reps can do the same for their camp, of course, but the only people paying attention right now are already dedicated to one party or the other, and frankly the Reps don't matter to us, not yet.

"Fox News: Where Democrats Are Always Running From Something"

How can anybody take these people seriously? First democrats don't support the war enough, now they don't oppose the war enough. And Hillary was in the White House when Bill had not-sex (but probably not in the kitchen where she should be)! This is exactly why I stopped watching television...

Furry is all your crazy Uncle Franks who found one another and decided it might be fun to play at animals, and the whole thing got out of hand and turned into a lifestyle.

That's my take on it.

In Australia, black people talk like they have laryngitis. It's not as funny as it sounds, though.
