Yeah, that story was in extremely poor taste, even for CNN.
I laughed horribly, I feel like a bad person now...
"at least they didn't know what hit them" "oh no... did you see CNN? the ones not mangled were running around screaming on fire.. its right here"
it appears that they have changed it.... some editor finally woke up... ;-P
Yes, now they're promoting a video report about the grandfather dying with headlines such as "Watch as news of the deaths proved to be unbearable -- 1:18)."
Haha, I saw that on the news, and the first thought that popped into my head was, "that's what they get for letting 15 year olds drive in Florida...what a bunch of dumbasses!" Then I almost felt bad about it...almost.

Ouch. Mass transportation is convenient here, and insurance is insanely expensive. And I'm poor.
19--30th?

My birthday, on the 30th...i'll be waiting for my present.
I also like that the last line of the article, coming after long, detailed descriptions and information about the crash, is:
"'The semis drive way too fast,' said Effie White, a nearby resident."

"Nothing comforts a grieving family like telling the country their loved ones died 'mangled and on fire,'" said Jeffrey Rowland about Lt. Mike Burroughs of the Florida Highway Patrol, who told national media outlet CNN:
"It's a very chaotic scene," Burroughs said late in the afternoon. "We're having trouble removing the family members from the car because of the way the car is lodged in and tied in with the metal pieces of the tractor-trailer."
"It is a mangled, fiery crash," he said, adding that "it was a very sad moment" when victims' family members visited the scene.
Also. They seem to get paid per word and punctuation. Couldn't it just read "Seven siblings die mangled by firey crash"
It's disappointing that they didn't mention something about the kids being adopted in the headline too.
I was thinking, "Seven kids? Must be Catholics." but now that I know they were adopted I can't even comfort the family by pointing out that they died because they were dirty, dirty sinners.
When I see 'seven kids from one family killed by "invisible weasels", I'll know CNN has gone too far.

I usually prefer not to read articles with headlines like this, but this headline was just too over the top to ignore. There was a schoolbus too. This is media GOLD.
it gets better. I just saw the update on CNN and it seems that when the grandfather (the mother's father) found out about the accident, he had a heart attack and died.....
"American Media: Look at terrible things that happen to people you don't know! LOOK! YOU MUST LOOK!"
Ooh! Maybe we can get an interview exclusive with the widow! Then they can ask those deep, important questions like: "Are you sad that your husband died?" "Do you blame the bus driver, the truck driver, or CNN for killing him?" "Can I have some of that leftover funeral fudge?" |
